This is a cute card I ran into recently. I have a few with this art. This one is a bit different than others that I have shared. This one has the same image on the inside as a black outline only for the Birthday person to color it. This card has die-cut edges and is from 1983. I think it is adorable.

This beautiful card has unusual colors for a Strawberry Shortcake Card. They are not usually quite this card. This one even has a black background towards the edges of the card behind all the strawberry bushed. There isn't a great deal of cards with this dark appearance. It is a nice contrast and looks quite lovely either way. This card is embossed on the front. It is for a 4th Birthday. This one is by Carlton Cards Canada. I have one of these from Mexico that I have also included in the messages for your reference. The Mexican version is lacking in quality in several different ways. Mainly in the quality of the paper and the printing. Although it is also embossed, the one from Mexico has a very light embossing that is not very impressive at all. The best quality cards that I have run into have been from AGC US cards and hhe ones from Canada. This card is very fabulous ! :)<
This sweet little card is by Rust Craft Canada. It is for a 2 year old's Birthday. Strawberry Shortcake is so cute on this one. I have shared this image on other cards before. This is one of her most popular possess on her Strawberry. Many artists drew her this way. The first one was the creator of Ziggy, Tom Wilson who worked as the Art director for American Greetings in the 60's and 70's. This art style is adorable.
This a new variant I have come across of this lovely Strawberry Shortcake Christmas Card. It is so adorable. I love how Strawberry Shortcake looks in this image with her profile. The card has a wonderful embossing. I have created a video of the embossing detail because I found it especially beautiful on this one. Especially around the fire place. This one is from Canada by Rust Craft for AGC.
Here is another side by side on variants. This is so subtle it is barely noteworthy. I purchased this card recently because it was in better condition than mine was. When I received it I noticed that the writing on the inside was a different color. I was going to sell my duplicate but decided to keep it since finding new cards has been slim pickings for me lately. I love variants so much. This card is unique because it has a unique treatment to the surface of the card on the characters and art that makes it glossy and has a sort of embossing feel. It is like an enamel over the paper. The process of doing this is called heat embossing. In this case they used a clear powder over the art and heated it to create this shiny effect. Such a nice look and feel to it. You can see that the heated embossing powder has turned slightly yellow due to age. I have always appreciated this "Soda I" saying on the inside as well. Berry cute! <
This set of cards are also a pair of variants. I had the one on the left with the black writing on the hat for many years. I recently found this fabulous variant with the writing in red both on the inside and outside. The colors are also slightly different with the different branding on the back. One is American greetings and the other is a Forget Me Not. They are the same exact size and basically everything is the same as far as appearance except for the ink color and the back. The Forget Me Not card is marked at suggested retail price of $1.25 while the AGC version is .80 cents. There may be other variations out there. These are the two I have come across so far. Berry Baby goodness!!
Recently added this beautiful new variant to my collection. It is also a Valentine. One is for a sweet girl and the other is for a Granddaughter with different writing on the front. The one for the Sweet Girl has some very pretty foil writing on the top that I just love. It is in a larger font and just pops out more. The new cards title is in black and is a slightly larger card than the first one. They both also have a very cute message inside that are different. The branding on the backs of these are also different. One is marked at $1.00 the other is $1.50. The new one is slightly larger than the one I already had but the one I already had seems to have more embellishment although it is a lower price than the less embellished one. This seems to show that the size on the card does affect the price more than the embellishments, at least in this case. They are both very cute cards. There may be other styles out there. I will share if I find any others.
This adorable card is one of those with a real-life item along with the Strawberry Shortcake characters interacting with the time. In this case it is a yummy strawberry ice cream cone. You get a cute Strawberry Shortcake profile image with Apricot helping her hold up this cone that is almost as tall at Strawberry Shortcake in size. They may need to call more friends along to help eat this, LOL. Hops-a-Lot is watching them. Then the message is the icing on the strawberry shortcake..."To someone who's sweet as sweet can be.... From someone who surely knows it.....ME! That message is sweet enough to melt anyone's heart. ADORABLE!! I had this card in the international version. I was berry happy to add this US version to my collection. I have added the international version for Rosita Fresita as well for your reference.< International Version for Rosita Fresita
This is a side-by-side demonstration of how easy it could be to miss out on a cool variant if you don't pay attention to some specific details on the card. Here is a great example of this. The two cards in the images are the same card except they are two different sizes. If you were to see these in a listing and already have it, you may pass it by as something you already have. This used to happen to me when I began my journey into collecting Vintage Strawberry Shortcake cards. They basically look the same especially when they zoom into the cards to when photographing it for selling. Many times, we don't know off hand which size I have because for the most part I do not have a catalog of the card's sizes to reference, just the from image and sometimes the writing inside of the card.
The main way to figure out if you already have the card, it so look at the back of the card. Make sure to check where the suggested retail price is at. When a card is larger it will have a higher price. If your card is priced at .75 and the card you are looking at is priced $1.00 or more, you need to investigate further as to why it is more. Sometimes but rarely) it will be because it was made by a different printer or country. This is hardly ever the case in my experience with this scenario. It is usually the case that the higher priced card is a larger version. It may also be die-cut or embossed which would make the card more expensive and slightly fancier than the less expensive one. In the case of this example, the fancier card is the smaller one with both a die-cut feature and embossing, it was still marked cheaper than the larger one that has neither of those things. You can also look for font sizing. In this example, the message on the card is smaller and sort of tighter inside of the leaf, the larger card has larger font and seems to have good amounts of space all around the leaf. This will indicate a larger variant from the one you already have. Another thing to watch for is changes in colors on the front, back and inside of the card. In this example the 2 cards both have white writing on the front of the cards. But on the back, you have both different colors and different branding. These cards also have a different branding on the back. Both things should be a reason to investigate further (although it may be a good enough reason to consider it a variant because of the branding difference for some). I will include the images of the inside of this card as a side by side soon. These are a few tips to help you along the way on your Shortcake Greeting card adventure. Have fun! This is an adorable card. Either way this card is quite lovely with the pretty doily look around the backgrounds edge with the bow. I love the look of this card. So, berry sweet! It was originally released in 1984 and then released again in 1986. You can see on the back of the card the two dates. This may be even a rerelease of the card from the 90's because the back has a bar code on their which is not common of the earlier cards. Also, when you see more than one copy right date on a card it is a sign that it is more modern. I love the sweet face of Strawberry Shortcake!
This sweet card was one I was not expecting. I had never seen it before. lt is so adorable. I think I love these types of cards the best out of all the ones I have found, the ones that open up into a large, fully illustrated panoramic view of everything going on all over the card. This one is interesting in that it features Huck and Plum Puddin' on the front of the card with Raspberry Tart, then the rest of the characters on the inside opened part. Usually Strawberry Shortcake is featured on the front of the cards with another character or characters, then the other characters on the inside when she is part of the group. Since this art has her at the center of the artwork, she ended up on the inner part of the card making this very unusual for a Shortcake greeting card cover. I am berry excited about the seasonal changes happening. Loving that holiday feeling this card reminds me of! from 1980 AGC
This cute little card is a Hi! version of another card I have shared in the past. The cards are both Birthday cards. The one with the smaller message on the outside has a longer message on the inside. The one with the longer message on the outside has a smaller message on the inside. Both has the pretty blue inside color. The one I am sharing today is by Carlton Cards, CANADA
I have shared this card before in a different blog post. This is a variant of the same card, this time for a Neice. It is different at the top right corner. The writing is in red foil on this one, the other one has a green background. I am adding an image of the first one for your reference. There may be other variants out there still. I will add them if I run into any others. This one is from Carlton Cards, Canada. The look on Strawberry Shortcake's eyes is so sweet. You can tell she really wants to be kind to whoever this cake is for, maybe it's for Custard who looks berry excited to see it. The cake is so big that Strawberry Shortcake can barely look over it, lol.. The colors are bright and vivid. This is also die-cut. This card is very pretty !
This is a berry sweet card just to wish your sister a Happy Valentine's Day and for it to be a Happy Day. So sweet that this card exists. This would definitely brighten a sister's day up for sure .<
I have had this adorable Strawberry Shortcake Betty Crocker Bake set Instruction Manual here for a while. I finally got around to getting pictures of it. I have seen other SSC berry friends post these in the past. It is one of the cutest instructions on the Shortcake ones. I wanted to make sure to include this in the archive :). < Instructions Manual Opened Up as the come.... |
