I had the amazing honor of chatting with the creator of the pet puppets of the Strawberry Shortcake Float that were featured at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade by Michael Baroto - Spectacular Dimensions in 1982. He shared a lovely image with me and I have permission to share individual pictures of the pets from his website at :
http://www.puppetparts.com/?fbclidIwAR02zFbs71HhIh1whEYKDkYm1YS7n7eAzYxn43n_DTQp4fzNDF0uibzS0bo . He is an amazing artist and designer of puppets and sculpted whimsical characters among many other things. The masks from the float of the individual characters were designed by Joe Stephen. You can visit the Strawberry Shortcake Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Pet puppets dedicated page at Michael Barotos' Puppet Parts site. Such fun nostalgia. He mentioned that these wonderful beauties may still be stored at the costume house. The pets were constructed of Scott Foam ,so they were very sturdy and would probably still be functional today. They are likely property of Macy's today. It was so berry nice to take a look back at such a lovely memory of our dear Strawberry Shortcake and her friends Thanksgiving Parade days! <
Thanks to Michael Baroto for sharing with us
