This amazing specimen is a Strawberry Shortcake 1980 Products Catalog
- Retailer Supplement of Kenner's original (first year) vintage line
It used to belong to the personal collection of Kenner sales executive Corky Steiner
Corky's father and uncles were the founders of Kenner Products Co. Corky was Director of Special Sales and International for many years. This sample of the 1980 "Welcome to the World of Strawberry Shortcake" catalog is from his personal collection of Kenner mementos, retained in his reference file for 40 years now.
Kenner introduced THE WORLD OF STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE line of dolls and accessories in 1980, first shown in the 1980 Toy Fair catalog. This became one of the most successful doll lines of all time, and pretty much created what became known as the "Small Doll" or "Mini Doll" category in the toy industry. The toy line was based on an American Greetings character.
This is a VERY HARD TO FIND catalog (in any, but especially this condition)

This catalog is totally dedicated to Strawberry Shortcake product being introduced by Kenner in the initial product line. This "retailer supplement" was in addition to and separate from Kenner's full line catalog. This includes the first 4 small dolls (Strawberry, Apple Dumplin', Huckleberry Pie, Blueberry Muffin), Snail Cart, Berry Bake Shoppe, Carrousel, Carry Case, 13" Rag Dolls, 8" Plush Pets, Play-Doh Playset, Betty Crocker Bake Set, and Dip Dots. It also features the "Free Jewelry" promotion, TV and print advertising schedules, and merchandising store display recommendations. Such an amazing catalog to add to my collection. I still can't believe it!!
