I was so happy to add this lovely card to my collection. This is a Rare Vintage Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Card. It features the Peculiar Purple Pie man From Porcupine Creek Rat-tat tat tat -tat tat- tat tat, LOL. It has the coolest picture of the Pie Man playing a game of cards at a table with Strawberry Shortcake and Huckleberry to his left and right. I honestly suspect he is cheating for 2 reasons. He has a card behind his ear, and because he is the Pie Man( and his berry birds can help him cheat). He can never stay a good guy for too long.
The game in this card is called " The Strawberryland Card Game". Each individual card has a copy right on it except for the Pie Man card that ended up on the back of this card because apparently he didn't fit inside, poor dear Purpi. I know he's peeking at Hucks cards! Look at those googly eyes ,LOL. He looks like he is some sort of Elf in this image.
In this game, the person left holding the Pie Man card in their had is the loser. Back when it was ok for a kid to lose a game, right! The good ole days for sure. Anyway, the cards are berry adorable. There are two of each character. Not all the kids are on the set, but we go 8 of the berry kids, 3 pets, and Lucky Bug, Plus Pie Man of course (the loser card hee hee). Each card has a strawberry on the back just like the ones on the front image of this card. So detailed!! Hope you enjoy this as much as I did. It's a whoot! From American Greetings Corp. 1983
